Just completed work on 9 short films on the Academic Job Market.
I'd be interested to read what people here think about this use of e.tech.

Bwa ha ha!
These are great! They remind me of my cattle-call interview, where my interviewer, listening to my medium-length bit about my dissertation, watched me like I had lobsters coming out of my ears.
My favorite part: "Freud? Freud was German?"
Thanks!
Flawless! :D
Oh! Thank you so much for sharing this. Some friends of mine and I have been talking about making a mockumentary about academia in the vein of Best in Show. Looking at academia through a mockumentary filmmaker's lens is therapeutic; it really gives one perspective. The more seriously you and your colleagues take it (academia, I mean), the funnier.

Back in the Memozoic Era
...when I was in grad school, some buddies and I actually "published" our own journal. An IBM PC had just appeared in our office, and we had a blast. The longer and more self-important the title, the better. The longer the footnotes, ditto. Wish I had actually kept a copy.
Ouch... that was excellent!
Brought back memories of sitting on both sides of the table. At one point, I accidentally had three of the filmettes running at the same time, and I could hear the soundtracks from all three. Which is not unlike the experience of interviewing a parade of candidates. The films are so hilarious, they hurt.
Even so, I would still much rather interview than be interviewed. If you ever need a paunchy middle-aged bald guy with a gray beard for your next production, I do that kind of work dirt cheap.

Re: the "next production" -- you're on! Perhaps we'll have to do a sequel on the campus visit ... ;)
