Artists Spoof PowerPoint at Competition

Wired News: PowerPoint Message Is the Medium

Wired has the above story about an unexpected result at the PowerPoint to the People competition held at UC Berkeley. The idea was to gather some innovative artists who would demonstrate the full possibilities of the medium. The idea backfired as the artists took the opportunity to spoof the medium.

"While some of the pieces were clever and original, some wasted their effort denigrating the medium," said Katrina Glerum, a former CEO who attended the exhibition. "An art show where none of the artists show expertise in the medium is hamstrung."

Well, I can agree with that to a certain point. I think it's easy to just dismiss PP as another "property" from Microsoft and forget that, limited as it is, PP has more to offer than just simple bullet and graph shows. For instance, you can have a little "ZZZWIP!" sound play as you change slides. Ingenius!
