October 5-6, 2007
Information literacy is defined as the ability to know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand. The Georgia Conference on Information Literacy strives to promote greater understanding of information literacy among librarians, educators, and students, bringing together an international assortment of educators, librarians, and media specialists from K-12 schools and universities representing a variety of disciplines. This year’s conference will be kicked off with a pre-conference panel including James Neal, Vice President for Information Services and University Librarian, Columbia University; Robert Stein, Research Director, Institute for the Future of the Book; and Siva Vaidhyanathan, Assistant Professor of Culture and Communication, New York University. Keith Curry Lance, Director of Library Research Service, Colorado State Library, Denver Department of Education will be the keynote speaker at the Conference.

The 2007 Graduate Research Network invites proposals for work-in-progress presentation at this year's meeting, May 17, 2007, at the annual Computers and Writing Conference hosted by Wayne State University.
We welcome anyone (graduate students or others) who wants an opportunity to talk about ideas, projects in gestation or in progress, or at any stage in between. Attend the full day workshop, or attend the morning or afternoon session.
The Graduate Research Network is FREE for all registered conference participants, and all discussion leaders and presenters will be listed in the GRN program. It's a unique opportunity for extended discussion of your ideas--whether you're just exploring ideas, working on your thesis or dissertation, an article, a book project, or just want to preview and fine-tune your conference presentation.
