NCTE/CCCC Mobile Technology Center: 2008 Computer Connection Sessions

Sponsored by the CCCC Committee on Computers and Composition, the CCCC Computer Connection offers presentations on new software and technologies for teaching composition and literature, computer-facilitated classroom practices, best practices for teaching online, new technology resources, and electronic journals. The Computer Connection takes place at the NCTE/CCCC Mobile Technology Center, which is located in the Exhibit Hall. The presentations are offered throughout the day on Thursday, April 3, and Friday, April 4, 2008.

Kairos Redesign Unveiling at 4Cs!

The Kairos Redesign Team is happy to announce that we will be unveiling the prototype for the new Kairos design at CCCCs. We will be presenting the new design during the second half of the D session (Thursday afternoon) in the Computer Connection. We will be talking about the redesign process, discussing some features of the new design, outlining plans for a Kairos style guide, and taking questions and feedback on the new design.

Kairos: Rhetoric, Technology, Pedagogy requests nominations for its three annual awards, which will be presented at the 2008 Computers and Writing Conference in Athens, Georgia. Kairos Issue 12.2 Released

Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy is pleased to announce the release of Issue 12.2 for Spring 2008. Our Topoi section has three webtexts from the 2007 Computers and Writing Conference (C&W) in Detroit, where the theme was Virtual Urbanism. New to Kairos in this issue are also session reviews from the Computers and Writing conference.

Proposals for individual presentations for the Qualitative Research Network are now being accepted. This research network, which occurs annually at the CCCC, is offered for new and experienced qualitative researchers.

CFP: Reclaiming the Rural: Essays on Literacy, Rhetoric, and Pedagogy

The co-authors of Rural Literacies (SIUP 2007) invite submissions from researchers in composition, literacy, and rhetorical studies for an edited collection investigating new ways to understand and interpret literacy, rhetoric, and pedagogy in rural contexts. This volume seeks essays that move beyond the typical arguments for preserving, abandoning, or modernizing rural communities. It seeks explorations of the rural that address the complexities of rural life and the interconnections among rural, urban, and suburban communities, and among the local, global, and transnational.

Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy is pleased to announce the release of Issue 12.1 for Fall 2007. Our theme for this issue is digital scholarship -- or, to be more specific, a "meta-theme on digital scholarship IN digital scholarship." As part of this theme, our new Inventio section makes its debut.
