Re: Blogging article...part 2

I liked the list of blog software, the guidelines, and the list of resources. Good point about developing a writing style, which is enhanced by the suggestion about personality.

But I was surprised that the example blogs are almost all individual blog sites. I don't know all of the examples, and might have missed something, but only blogs4God seems to be a community weblog. Would have expected to see something like boingboing, kuro5hin, slashdot, metafilter, or some other community blog sites as examples. That is, unless you are going with Jay Cross's definition which you quoted in part 1.

Thanks Charlie...Great point. The moment I read your post I had one of these "d'oh" moments. I've updated the article to add a community section to examples.

See, now it wasn't my intention to plug Kairosnews when I mentioned this, but thanks for the link :)

Re: Blogging article...part 2

One other type of blog appears missing: the personal.

While blogs do all these other things, they still are highly personal spaces as well. And those are interesting too. because of how they allow readers in to their personal thoughts, lives, critiques, etc. Kottke.org is one. But there are countless others.

Yes, I agree, personal blogs are important too. Oh, and in part 1, I like how you present the benefits and implications. It's not a *defense* of blogging or an *apology* for it, as I've often felt I had to explain it to people. You're not writing this for the smirking, "Why should I give a crap about blogging?" audience. :-)

Getting lots of mileage out of this group :)

Thanks for the additional comments. I've included personal blogs now. kinda funny how I get focused on one concept...and completely overlook some basic foundational stuff...
