C&W Fashion - Your thoughts?

I noticed recently that Bill Gates still thinks that proper geek attire is all black. I also noticed at C's that Lessig was wearing all black. At C&W, George Lucas (oops, Todd Taylor) was wearing all black. Others, including two of us here, sported attractive yet polemical t-shirts (cel4145 with his blazing blue Firefox T, me with my GNU Manifesto and Anti-RIAA duds). I saw plenty of other interesting shirts, but mostly I saw what I call "teacherwear." A few of us were even dressed in business suits! If it weren't for my intense passion for learning, which burns hot enough to keep me warm in even the most irresponsible outdoor air conditioning, I'd have shivered hard enough to register on the Richter.

What are your thoughts on proper apparel for the Geek Compositionist? Are we supposed to be wearing all black (I always hated the "all black" wearing folks whose shirts are slightly darker/lighter than their pants and such). How many of us are pierced or inked? (I'm neither.) Is it glasses or contacts? If someone were to ask, "How do I look like I'm from GeekComp," what do you tell him/her?

Sorry if this topic is totally frivilous. You should have seen the post I wanted to do! :-P

unfashionable?

Well, you spotted me in my copyleft shirt, and I'm both inked (right deltoid) and pierced (earlobes), but I was wearing light cotton buttondown and a summerweight grey sport coat for most of the rest of the conference. This topic has come up before; I'll confess that did actually wear jeans a couple days this time (didn't want to be bothered with the ironing), and felt a little self-conscious because of it. But then, last year, they (thankfully) encouraged people to wear shorts, so I'm not gonna feel too guilty.

C&W Online Fashion

I did C&W Online mostly in my nightgown and slippers. Was that wrong?

Copy Left T

Ha, yes, I was thinking of you as well when I wrote the post. Quite a nice ensemble, even if it took me a moment to recognize the symbol. Nice color, too--bright, like Charlie's only in red. I suppose they chose red for the CL shirt because it's such a "violent" color.

tees

Well I wasn't there and doubt I would have packed this item to a conference, but thought I should reply and show off my new favorite tee and old familiar blog space over at http://doctordaisy.blog-city.com

Who knows if writingblog.org will come back again...
