The Graduate Research Network (GRN) invites proposals for the 5th annual GRN on June 10, 2004, at the 2004 Computers and Writing Conference in Honolulu, Hawai'i.
The GRN is a full-day, pre-conference event, free to all registered conference participants. We welcome those pursuing work at any stage, from just beginning to formulate questions to those ready to pursue publication, and the GRN is open to undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty or others doing work in the field.

Hawaii C&W
I'm still unhappy that Hawaii was chosen for this year's C&W location. Unfortunately, I can't just pull $1000 from "savings" and go to GRN, and I don't like the idea of asking "real professors" for charity. No thanks; I know that professors aren't making that kind of money. I don't want charity or a tropical vacation. What I want is for the most pertinent conference in my subfield to be accessible.
I think Hawaii was a tragic choice for C&W. Conferences are expensive as it is, and I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't need the "tropical vacation" aspect to get excited about an academic conference that pretty much represents my subfield. As far as I'm concerned, the location should be chosen based on mutual accessibility. Everyone I talk to about C&W is not going because of the expense of traveling to Hawaii.
