Charter Schools USA has sent a C&D to some folks running an internet forum that anonymously published several messages highly critical of the school. You can find the C&D here if you'd like to read it. Here's the gist:
CSUSA hereby demands that you immediatly cease and desist your continues published libal and defamatory accusations, comments and statments about CSUSA, Gateway Charter Scool and Dr.Nauss through any means, including a web site.
Apparently Nauss is a principal at Gateway Charter who some parents feel is tyrannical and mostly absentee.

I read through the bulk of the discussion, and I have to say anyone who would send a cease and desist order based on that must have some pretty thin skin. It's as if any criticism of a taxpayer funded initiative that is farmed out to a for-profit means you will get in trouble. Since CSA is acting defacto as the state, perhaps in inparenti locus or however that goes (standing in for the parent and the state in this instance), they wouldn't have much of a suit if they pressed it. Sounds like they want to cow the parents. I've always been suspicious of anyone who gets into education for profit at the k12 level. I saw what a disaster it was in Las Vegas with a different firm.
