The Washington Supreme Court has decided that secret "voyeur" cams are perfectly legal--as long as the video they capture occurs in a public place.
This worries some civil libertarians, who envision porn sites making millions off "shoe cams," which peek up women's skirts--the infamous "upskirt vids." These voyeur videos are then uploaded or streamed to the net, where millions of potential porn lovers can view them privately in their homes.
While the Court made it clear that stashing cams in bedrooms and bathrooms is out of the question, capturing footage in any public place does not violate current laws.
One part of the article mentions that Florida was one of the first states to use public cams to search for criminals.

Re: Court Says Secret "Upskirt Cams" Legal
This is too weird. I 'm going to talk about this in my "writing research papers for science and technology" class, which I have been expanding to include the social impacts of technology.
