This special issue of Technical Communication Quarterly will focus on cultural studies of technical communication. The guest editors, Bernadette Longo and Blake Scott, define a cultural studies approach as "the critical study of the cultural conditions, relations, circulation, and effects of power-laden practices—in this case technical communication—that are socio-historically situated and that are involved in the shaping of subjects. They encourage scholars to analyze the "broader cultural conditions and power dynamics that help shape technical communication." The deadline for a 1-2 page proposal is July 1, 2004. Please print the flyer and circulate widely!
