David Bowie has always been one of my favorite musicians, but this news from Yahoo! just made my appreciation rise a notch higher. Bowie is not only encouraging fans to "rip" his music and generate new mixes--he's OFFERING A PRIZE for the most creative mix! From DavidBowie.net:

DAVID BOWIE fans will put their own musical skills to the test beginning April 8 as they compete to create the best “mash-up” remix of a song from his current REALITY album with another track from his catalog. The contest will run for six weekly periods during which public voting will determine each week’s entry for the Grand Prizes.

The first prize winner gets an Audi...Heck, I'd be happy enough with third prize (a new laptop). Let's just hope Bowie isn't afraid of American DJs striving to win these prizes!

It's really inspiring to see one of the fathers of our generation step forward and introduce some sanity into the battles over IP. He's definitely my Hero!
