Here's a follow-up to this recent Kairosnews post. The vetoed bill would have required people to pay a $10.00 recycling fee when they bought new TVs or computers to help with the problem of e-waste. Some say the Silicon Valley influence is to blame. This article summarizes the arguments on both sides of the issue pretty well, but of course I find this evidence the most persuasive: "The Environmental Protection Agency says about 220 million pounds of old computers and other hardware are trashed in the United States each year."
