I've been using Google's gmail and reader apps for some time now. They're easy to use and very reliable. So, I'm very happy to see that Google has done it again with a Calendar App. I just learned about this on Slashdot a few minutes ago, so I haven't been able to fully test it, but it appears to have an easy MS Outlook import feature and gmail integration. I'm sure I'll be putting this thing to good use, because I don't have Outlook at home (and it's a pain juggling those appointments and such between computers.)
Finally! Google Calendar

You use Outlook???
I couldn't resist ;)
Seriously, though. If you want to get out form under Outlook completely, get yourself a Palm PDA and then you can install the Palm Desktop wherever you want plus have your calendar with you. Even though it isn't now, Palm OS will be Linux-based in the next year or so.
try 30boxes
I have been using 30boxes free web calendar service and it is fantastic. You can add events easily by typing things like "Dinner with J.T. sunday 4-6pm" and it knows what to do with it (yes, Google does this too). 30boxes allows you to easily share your cal with friends (only the events you want them to see) and create RSS feeds for any set of events (you can tag them e.g. meetings, classes, birthdays, etc). You can also create pretty javascript powered viewlets of your calendar to include on your website.
Hands down I would choose 30boxes over Google Calendar. Elegant and functional. More about what I use it and other web 2.0 services for here.
