Here's an interesting story in Wired concerning free speech in MMORPGs. Apparently, some of the sysops of a MMORPG called A Tale in the Desert decided to stir up some controversy by creating a character and having him start making sexist statements. The sysops were under the impression that their game was simply "too polite."
The article then develops into a very interesting discussion about free speech in online environments with references to a conference called "State of Play." Devs must walk the fine-line between freedom and restriction and avoid the legal or ethical morass on either side. It's all very interesting; a must-read, really.
