Good Job for Liberal Arts Person

The Beaumont Foundation of America's core purpose is to grant state-of-the-art computer hardware to Americans who do not have access to the vast educational and economic development benefits of computer literacy.

In five short years, the Beaumont Foundation will deliver over $350 million dollars in Toshiba computer hardware to schools, hospitals, churches, and nonprofit groups across the country.

To accomplish our mission, we are looking for capable, adventurous, creative, diplomats who will develop community and educational grantee contacts, work with those contacts to ascertain need, and maintain contact with the grantees post-computer-placement.

This five-year adventure is located in Beaumont, Texas. Beaumont is one

of Texas' hidden treasures; great tree-lined streets, inexpensive

housing, good schools, and southern friendliness await. Beaumont is

located about eighty miles from downtown Houston, and about forty miles

from both the Gulf Coast and Louisiana.

All Program Officers must have a bachelor's degree, at least five years

experience in teaching, technical assistance to schools, or non-profit

work, and a good understanding of issues related to closing the digital

divide. Each program officer must be willing to move to Beaumont, Texas

for the five-year life of the foundation, and must be willing to put in

up to 35% travel. The Foundation's compensation package includes

relocation, a signing bonus, annual incentive bonuses, a generous "stay"

bonus for those who complete the five-year Foundation cycle, and a

severance incentive. In addition, the Foundation pays full health and

dental for all employees and their dependents.

The Foundation is especially interested in candidates who have a deep

understanding of and high credibility with typically technology

underserved populations such as Native Americans, urban populations, and

recent immigrants.

If you are ready to jump-start your career and are committed to closing

the digital divide, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please

e-mail Franny Oxford directly at foxford@bmtfoundation.com, or fax your

resume to (409) 813-1816. For more information about the Beaumont

Foundation, please visit www.bmtfoundation.com. (We are still building

our website but a PDF brochure can be found there.) Please e-mail Franny

directly rather than responding to the digital divide listserve. Thanks!
