Hi, everyone. I want to ask your advice about choosing a textbook or two for my English 403/503 class called "Computers & English." I want to teach it as an intro to new media type course with a focus on doing projects rather than theoretical readings. I don't really want it to have a pedagogical focus; it should be more focused on writing with some new media stuff like blogs and wikis. I also thought about doing a Flash movie or maybe an interactive project of some sort (PPT or Flash, maybe?). I guess I could also throw in some design/usability type stuff as well, though I'd rather just let them indulge their creativity and have some fun with this.
Anyway, if anyone knows of a fun and accessible book or three that would be good for this, let me know immediately. I'm already way past the deadline for ordering books.

Check out This is Me

In addition to the downloadable workbook, there are activities and a pretty good set of bookmarks.

I think your textbook would be the best choice.
I ended up choosing this one. May not be the best choice, but it looks pretty good from what I've seen, hitting all the bases I want to cover with a hands-on approach. I think that's going to be the key to reaching this particular audience.
