This article from The Register reports that search engine optimization company Search King is suing Google over an alleged intentional reduction in its search ranking. Search King is asking for $75,000 in damages for lost revenue due to its loss in ranking, which SearchKing claims "diminished its value."

This is fascinating...I had a feeling that something like this would be cropping up soon (you remember that post I had awhile back about search engines ads.) I think that as theorists of electronic communication, we are BLIND to the critical function of search engines. Someone (maybe I will take on this task) needs to look at critically at the function of search engines, from ethical, rhetorical, and technical perspectives.

here's a strange thing that most people probably don't know. if you enter in a multiple keyword search in google, say 5 words, which gives a large return, google orders the returns different depending on what order you put the keywords in.
a good thing to know for serious web researchers.
