How the Internet is Changing Neighborhoods

Jim Buie writes about what happens when people in a neighborhood get some kind of online community going--an email listserv, discussion board, whatever. His implicit argument is that this online interaction facilitates crime prevention, community building, etc. What I find striking is that in the "Books" section, Buie mentions The Virtual Community by Howard Rheingold, but not the much more relevant The Wired Neighborhood by Stephen Doheny-Farina.
