Knitting Martinis in San Francisco

Well, actually there will be knitting and martinis, we won't actually be knitting martinis. I'm pulling together a group of knitters for a traveling knit night at the CCCC. I think that this would be a great chance to get women in the field (and those sympathetic to the cause) together to just plain old vent! We won't be too terribly exclusionary. We'll welcome all fibrous folks (knitter/crocheters/tatters/ cross stitchers/etc). Email me (sblackmon(AT)cla.purdue.edu) and we'll set up a time. I am in town from Tuesday through Saturday.

I'm in! Where are we going to do this? If possible I like to avoid smoky places for knitting groups. But I guess in California it's a non-issue, right?

Perfect for knitter groups - in the Sierra's

Any knitters who want to form groups to meet up in the Sierras at Camp Mather in the crisp early Fall to fondle yarn, share advice and the joy of knitting (and/or crochet)????

San Francisco Recreation and Parks' Camp Mather is next door to Yosemite and is open 10 weeks every summer when it is crowded with kids of all ages - and is hard to get into. Camp Mather has added 3 long weekends in September when it will be easier to get in - since school will be in session! If these weekends are not filled they will be cancelled, so let the Mather Desk know of your interest ASAP: 831-2715

September weekends were offered for the first time last year and cancelled for lack of interest... let's grab these weeks in the big piney. A group of Astronomy hobbyists is planning to attend the weekend of 9/8 - any groups or individuals are welcome -

The application deadline for the summer is March 11, but there may be a later deadline to sign up for the fall weekends. The fall weekends are listed on the summer application. Call the Mather Desk with questions: 831-2715.

Hope it's okay to add this here - it is such a rare and wonderful place and usually impossible to get in - or full of family types. September is different!!
