Making Web Pages with Small Fonts More Readable in Mozilla

Was just procrastinating working on my C&W presentations by playing with my Mozilla 1.3 preferences. I thought I'd share this handy accessibility tip:

Go to Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Mouse Wheel. Select a modifier key (I used CTRL). Then check the box beside "make the test larger or smaller." Select "Ok." To shrink and enlarge the text in Navigator, just hold down the modifier key when scrolling. Nice and easy!

Can't say whether this works on earlier versions. You'll have to try it for yourself.

Galeon

Galeon allows a font size menu in the toolbar (Preferences: User Interface -> Toolbar, then add Zoom Control). You can type a percentage, click arrows to increase or decrease, or use control keys. The sizing affects the current tab/window only, which is darned handy.

For those without a mouse wheel, you can also download the "mouse gesture" packet from Mozilla.org. Can open new tab, new window, shrink or blow up text, as well as some stuff I'm forgetting. Less precise than the mouse wheel, perhaps, but it works. I strongly recommend an optical mouse for gestures.

I've heard about it, but never tried it. I wonder if after using it a while, would the mouse gestures be more efficient?

I think it might be, and I'm a pretty consistent hybrid of keyboard nerd and mouser. Navigating back/forth by simply clicking and mousing left/right is more efficient than clicking your back/forward buttons, and might be more efficient than Alt+ leftarrow/right arrow. Course, they can do things you can't do with the keyboard, e.g. hide or reveal images.
