Matt Interviews R.A. Montgomery (author/publisher of Choose Your Own Adventure)

22 Feb in books, choose your own adventure, games, videos

Hi, everyone. Been awhile since I posted any updates, but a timely email from Charlie concerning the little bit part I've been playing in Stargate Universe sent me back here to see how ol' Kairosnews has been doing. Anyway, I thought you might enjoy a video interview I did recently with R.A. Montgomery, author and publisher of the famous Choose-Your-Own-Adventure series of books for young people. Mr. Montgomery and I talked about many topics related to the books, including his thoughts on education. Enjoy!

you rock, Matt

you have just provided my teaching material for today's session of Digital Rhetoric.

Neat

Wow, let me know how that goes. I really enjoyed talking to Ray. He's a fantastic guy, well traveled and of course very well read. I bought a handful of his new editions at B&N and had a great time reading them again. Makes me want to start a more serious collection--get some of the old Time Machine books and so on, too.

one part of the class are "serious games" and the choose your own adventure" come up all the time. We watched the interview in class and talked about it. Students are often amazed to realize that Halo and whatever other monster-out-of-space game they are playing have roots in more traditional media.
