Penguin Computing has announced a line of Linux-based desktops aimed at businesses. This comes at a time when Microsoft is already sweating over Sun Microsystem's new machines. The Penguin Niveus computers come standard with a special version of Red Hat version 8 customized for desktop use. These systems start at a little over $700 (sans monitor).

Actually, from what I understand, they are using the regular version of Red Hat 8.0. What happened is that Red Hat customized the standard version for 8.0 such that it is a more user friendly desktop environment in KDE, and, I think, Gnome.
