There's an interesting link on Boing Boing today to this Photoshopping Contest for remixing WWII propaganda posters. Some of the entries are funny, some profound, some offensive, and others just plain silly. At any rate, it's grist for viz rhet. I can't help but think how fun it'd be to give an assignment like this to a class. Only trouble is, I don't know Photoshop. Hmm...

Matt, the great part about not knowing some software is undoubtedly some of your students do, or would be willing to try it out.
Make it extra credit, find a student who would teach a few lessons to the class for extra credit. Make it a group project with at least 1 person per group assigned to teach photoshop.
Any way you draw it up, could have really great results...I generally find that my students know more about XYZ software even when I know it too. This is something I had a hard time training teachers on, how to get them to accept that their students know more than them. Real role reversal from teaching days of that past...
