NPR's brutally stupid linking policy

BoingBoing has this post condemning NPR's policy on linking to content in their site.

The NPR policy: "Linking to or framing of any material on this site without the prior written consent of NPR is prohibited. If you would like to link to NPR from your Web site, please fill out the link permission request form."

Seems a strange policy coming from NPR. And no, I did not ask for permission to link to their linking policy :)

Yikes, I hope they don't find out. But you're right; that doesn't seem very PUBLIC of them. They should post some rationale for that policy.
