Prototype of $100 laptop revealed

Wired magazine notes that Nicholas Negroponte demonstrated a prototype of the $100 laptop for education at the U.N. World Summit on the Information Society earlier this week. There is an interview with Negroponte is this article that readers may be interested in. I was particularly intrigued by this observation in the introductory portion of the article:

Built-in Wi-Fi with mesh networking support, combined with a microphone, speaker and headset jack, even means the box can serve as a node in an ersatz VOIP phone system.

VOIP is a nice touch for making these laptops true mobile computing communication devices. Maybe they should include an inexpensive headset with each laptop. Doesn't seem like it should raise the cost more than a dollar or so.
