The Seattle Times reports that Seattle public libraries will close for a week starting next Monday in an effort to save money.
This would seem to me an awful precedent to set for American public libraries. If this action is deemed "successful," won't other municipalities take similar actions to cut costs?
Note that the article suggests that Bill Gates or Paul Allen could offer the financial support to keep the libraries open.
