Q&A re: SCO vs. IBM

Until now, I've stayed away from blogging about the SCO vs IBM conflict because it sounds more FUD than fact. However, it is now not only Linux's lucky lawsuit, but I believe good for copyleft as well:

  • Earlier today, Open Source Development Labs (OSDL), a non-profit organization supported by many corporations in the IT industry, as well as current employer of Linus Torvalds, released a Q&A statement by Lawrence Rosen which addresses the SCO vs IBM suit and whether or not Linux users should worry about purchasing a license from SCO. Through Rosen's analysis, OSDL makes it clear that Linux users have little to worry about.
  • Meanwhile, from the opposite perspective, Slashdot reported today that an SCO lawyer has commented that the GPL is invalid in the US. I tend to agree with the Slashdot post. Sounds like the Chewbacca Defense.
