Until now, I've stayed away from blogging about the SCO vs IBM conflict because it sounds more FUD than fact. However, it is now not only Linux's lucky lawsuit, but I believe good for copyleft as well:
- Earlier today, Open Source Development Labs (OSDL), a non-profit organization supported by many corporations in the IT industry, as well as current employer of Linus Torvalds, released a Q&A statement by Lawrence Rosen which addresses the SCO vs IBM suit and whether or not Linux users should worry about purchasing a license from SCO. Through Rosen's analysis, OSDL makes it clear that Linux users have little to worry about.
- Meanwhile, from the opposite perspective, Slashdot reported today that an SCO lawyer has commented that the GPL is invalid in the US. I tend to agree with the Slashdot post. Sounds like the Chewbacca Defense.
