Should Libraries Censor Net Porn?

There's more in the ongoing battle over government mandated Internet porn filters. Wired reports, "the Supreme Court said Tuesday it will decide if public libraries can be forced to install software blocking sexually explicit Web sites."

What I find interesting, as the article points out, is that the recent ruling striking down the Children's Internet Protection Act was done so not because the court found filtering wrong, but rather because the software didn't work properly. Seems like the money spent on continuing litigation could go to developing effective filtering software or other measures, rather than continuing to fight what is obviously a failure in present technology. Of course, it does make the lawyers happy.
