I think the author is on to something here. I know some other professors who do consulting work on the side. One teaches public speaking courses at a local community college and does his consulting work with major firms here in Tampa. He coaches them for speeches and edits their bulletins and mailouts for grammar and rhetoric.
I'd love to set up something like that. It'd be nice to make lots of cash applying what I know to a business model.
