Slashdot on the Value of Online Degrees

Someone wrote in to Slashdot to ask about the value of online degrees, and many of the responses are quite enlightening. While many write in with the standard "You miss out on the beer parties" line, many of the participants who are actually in charge of IT departments or hiring claim that the online degrees are equally valid. Indeed, some seem to think that they demonstrate a level of indepedence and dedication that makes them a better indicator of success. I learned quite a bit about various online programs here--including the laughable fact that FSU requires everyone to take courses in Florida government, even if they're doing their work online from Alaska. Brilliant thinking, FSU!

Is there anyone out there who earned a degree online, and then got into graduate school?
