The elevation of sharing a single file to a felony has been mentioned on this Kairosnews post, but I missed somehow last week's pairing of piracy with terrorism (and here also). Granted, they're really after organizations working at large scales, but I wonder what laws will filter down from such decisions to affect the individual user, or what types of protections will get developed in the name of fighting terrorism. The Washington Times has an article on the differences between terrorism and piracy as well (not software piracy).
Noone is suggesting it, but you could argue that peer-to-peer file-sharers are actually combatting terrorism if they freely share content that people would otherwise pay terrorist-pirates to get. When was the last time you committed a felony for your country? (Bush, put your hand down.)
