Wired reports that Apple failed to debut any faster processors for the Mac at this year's Macworld. Mac users complain " 'Graphics work is the most power-greedy thing you can do on a computer,' explained Mike Nichols, a digital artist. 'Not only do I need a really fast machine, I also need all its software to be super-charged. OS X is slower than OS 9 on most machines I've worked with. And without font management and Quark, there's just no reason for me to buy a new Mac or upgrade to OS X anyway.'"
Comments on Jaguar, the new feature-rich edition of Mac OSX, point out that it "kind of slugs along on anything less than the latest Mac."

Re: "slugs along"
Seems like Linux is the way to go, Mark.
