I just caught sight of this article on Yahoo! headlines this afternoon. Apparently, SUN has created a whole suite of productivity software (including a browser) in a deliberate attempt to usurp Microsoft in several sectors. The wares run on Linux but are apparently richly compatible with MS Exchange and Office.
The setup is 75% cheaper than a comparable MS setup, but there's another key selling point: "Guess what? It wouldn't have blown up ... with the worms and the viruses" of recent weeks, said Larry Singer, Sun's senior vice president of global market strategies .
Is this anything to get excited about?
