Moodle Music Video

As part of a class project, Chandler Birch, Josh Stephens, and David Perkins of Taylor University created a YouTube music video detailing the virtues of switching from Blackboard to Moodle. They did a great job with the video production and presented some good reasons why Moodle is better:

Blackboard Will Now Be Selling Online Courses

From Wired Campus,

Blackboard announced today that it is teaming up with a for-profit education provider, K12 Inc., to sell online courses to colleges that want to outsource their remedial offerings.

I can't help but think that they will start with remedial courses, and then work their way into 100 and 200 level introductory courses once faculty get used to the idea of Blackboard as a course provider.

Dissertation Changed My Online Habits

I have turned in the draft of my dissertation, which was a study of writing courses and online "learning management systems" such as Moodle and Blackboard. In particular, I was examining students with special needs and if the LMS platforms used within our department adequately accommodated the students.

We have "template" courses, designed by senior faculty. The primary platform is WebVista (Blackboard). There is no template for Moodle, but it is approved by the department for use in comp and technical writing courses.
