Open Source and CCCC

At this year's Conference on College Composition and Communication in New York, CCCC-IP, 7C's, and the CCCC IP Committee unanimously approved the Proposed NCTE/ CCCC Resolution on the Adoption and Use of Open Source Software. A shortened version of the document was then presented and approved as a Sense of the House Motion at the CCCC Business Meeting on Saturday morning. Read the text of the open source motion at CCCC-IP.

It is my hope we can submit a version of these documents as a formal resolution at next year's CCCC and at NCTE, and it is also my hope that other educational organizations will similarly adopt statements or resolutions advocating and supporting the use of open source software in education.
