Redneck Rucksacks

in fun stuff, web design & usability

I'll agree with Street Tech:

I don't know what the designers of this site were smoking (moldy barn-hay, apparently), but this is one of the weirdest and most wonderful virtual storefronts I've seen in awhile. I'm not really sure what the connection is between hillbillies and high-tech gadget bags, but who cares?

This is one of those things that has to be experienced to understand, and I'm still not sure why I like it??? Be sure to try the various buttons (use the chain if you press the nerds button). Kudos to the designers at Sputnik Agency for their off-the-wall creative design.

JibJab's New Movie "Second Term"

in fun stuff, new media, politics

Jib Jab's Second Term on Yahoo!

The good ol' boys at JibJab have released yet another political satire in the form of a FLASH movie. This one's called "Second Term" and pokes fun at W's plans for his next four years in the House. Unlike "This Land," this flash seems more anti-Bush and almost menacing at times. Robbers Scared by GTA

in fun stuff, video games

Since it is the holiday season, I was immediately reminded of Home Alone. From Slashdot,

Some robbers tried to burglarize a poor old lady and her 3 grandsons. Her grandsons happened to be playing Grand Theft Auto:San Andreas, and the sounds of the police from the game scared them away! From the article: "The police in the game were saying, 'Stop, we have you surrounded. This is the police.’ The burglar, unknowingly, thought this was the actual police and panicked ... being apprehended by Playstation." Now, no more saying games are bad for you...

Perhaps I can teach my dog to play GTA when I'm not at home ;)

The Wiki Game

in fun stuff, video games, wikis

Wikipedia:Wiki Game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I just read about the above link on Slashdot today. It's a pretty neat idea...To put it simply, you click on a ramdom link, take 20 secs, then click on another link on that page, take 20 secs, click on another link--repeat for a total of 10 disorientations.

Then the player has to find his or her way BACK to the original page using as few clicks as possible.

It's a really neat game, and I hope that the data from these games is being compiled somewhere.
