Technology-Training Survey for a Dissertation

I am looking for participants to help me with survey responses for my dissertation. The online survey asks questions regarding technology training for graduate students, faculty, and new teachers. It also asks how graduate programs incorporate/implement (or not) venues and opportunities for graduate students and new teachers to learn how to use digital technology in the composition classroom. The survey can take as little as 10 minutes (depending on whether you elaborate on your responses) or as long as 30 minutes. Of course elaboration in the text-boxes would be most helpful. Thank you for your help. I am open to any feedback you may offer. Please drop me a line with questions/suggestions:

The survey is located here:

Thank you all for your help and support. Do not forget to click the "SUBMIT" button at the end of the survey.

re: survey

I'll be sure to take the survey and give you some feedback later tonight, Tony :)

more on survey

A few things:

  • Maybe it is intentionally the focus of the study, but I see an emphasis on training to use the technology without much differentitation between training to use the tool--i.e., what you can get out of reading a Blackbord for Dummies book--and understanding the theory and practice behind using the tools. I would think it might be useful to differentiate a little more along this line.
  • I think you might offer the option for people to give you their name and email address with the survey, with the understanding that their input will still be anonymous, but also with the understanding that you might like to ask some follow up questions based upon their answers. Seems like a good way to get a pool of respondents who would give you even more information than can be gotten from the survey itself.

names/emails

Thanks Charlie. I am using a "multimodal" research design, so in order to put the survey in a "context" I've also done two case studies on how technology has been/will be implememnted into graduate r/c programs. How is technology valued? How is it incorporated into the mission statements of particular universities? Etc. So I am getting some qualitative data that way. I hope to formulate this into some kind of book on technology training for new teachers and graduate students, so when I do more case studies I will also add your suggestions to the survey. This diss, I hope, will be the beginning of a fairly large and new project for me. :)

Thanks, Tony
