Tenure-Track Creative Non-Fiction Position at Georgia Southern

The Department of Writing and Linguistics at Georgia Southern University http://www2.gasou.edu/writling seeks applications for a tenure-track assistant professor to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in creative non-fiction, first-year composition, fiction writing and poetry writing.

MFA or Ph.D. with creative dissertation is required by the starting date of the position, August 1, 2003. Requirements include publication in one or more kinds of non-fiction prose writing (e.g., literary journalism, scientific writing, the literary essay, memoir, autobiography, historical writing) as well as training or experience in analyzing form, style, and contexts of non-fiction prose. The successful candidate will teach non- fiction prose courses and demonstrate potential to incorporate information technology in instruction. Evidence of excellent teaching is required. A minimum of two years of college teaching experience is preferred. Preference may be given to candidates with experience working with diverse student populations. Salary dependent upon qualifications. We seek candidates who complement a department with programs in creative writing, linguistics, first-year composition, technical and professional writing, teacher education, and ESL.
