The Department of Writing and Linguistics at Georgia Southern University http://www2.gasou.edu/writling seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor with Ph. D. in Rhetoric and Composition or related field with a specialization in technical and professional writing.

Evidence of excellent teaching is required; teaching responsibilities include courses in a Second Discipline with the School of Information Technology, a Writing Minor, and a proposed BA in Writing and Linguistics. Ph.D. required by starting date of position, August 1, 2003. Dissertation in field and evidence of excellent teaching are required. Teaching experience in a computer classroom environment is expected. Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following specializations: computers and writing, rhetorics of literacy and technology, rhetorics of science and technology, and hypertext theory. A minimum of two years of college teaching experience is preferred. Preference may be given to candidates with experience working with diverse student populations. Salary dependent upon qualifications. We seek candidates whose expertise and interests complement a department with programs in creative writing, linguistics, first-year composition, technical and professional writing, teacher education, and ESL.
