While written with business types in mind, InformationWeek's article, The Semantic Web, the next step in the Web's evolution, promises even more dramatic changes, is a good introduction to the concept of the Semantic Web.

One of the things that occurs to me is that the creation of the Semantic Web will require more "intelligent" search agents capable of making connections between all the metadata which will be available. Or, another way to look at it is that the Semantic Web will make it possible for more sophisticated AI programs to make connections between information on the Internet, creating a large information space for AI learning. Could it be that we are creating the AI classroom of the future?
