Voila! Workspot Linux is instant and portable 'magic'

If you liked Knoppix's OS on a cd, how about OS in a browser window? Don't laugh. The Register reports that "Workspot is an online Linux desktop. You go there in any browser (java-enabled is better), login, and start up Red Hat Linux within that browser. It is so cool, I really want it to be something that people go for. I want it to succeed."

At first, I thought this was a little impractical. But then again--and this may be a reach--Workspot is the Blogger of the desktop. Most blog software allows a user to have a personal writing space via any Internet browser. Imagine instead allowing any user to have their own production space, a full-fledged Linux desktop via a browser? Might be useful in a community where computers are shared access machines.

Maybe this is a strech, but regardless, the ingenuity represented by Workspot and Knoppix indicate that something is going on right in the open source community :)

Gotta thank the OL Daily for this one.
