Welcome to the Always-On World

Philip Agre's article kept me awake last night thinking about how unpleasant growing up would have been if my mother had been able to find me anywhere, anytime via a pager or cell phone.

Agre paints an interesting picture of what our lives might be like in the future as we become more and more "always-on." For instance, "Academics who keep track of one another's careers, for example, might receive a daily newspaper with bibliography entries for all of the new publications by people whose work interests them."

This article seems pretty student-friendly and would generate some great class discussion :)
