Used to be that Mozilla's email notification message--the one that slides up and down in the right corner of my machine announcing a new email--was a great feature. Now, even though Mozilla's junk filter mail grabs most spam, it still signals them as a new message. Seems like every third or fourth one is a piece of junk. Maybe I should report this as a bug?
Keeps making me think of spam spam spam.
And I hate spam. Don't we all? At least I used to think so. Until one of my students turned me on to this piece, Why I Love Spam? Note that it was written in May 2002. I wonder if Barry Dennis still feels the same way now? Especially since the FTC has concluded (via USA Today) that "two-thirds of the 'spam' messages clogging online mailboxes probably are false in some way."

Re: Why I'm learning to hate Mozilla's email notification?
I would say that this is a bug. It's one of the reasons that I stopped using Mozilla mail and started using Evolution.
Re: Why I'm learning to hate Mozilla's email notification?
Someone we all know (what's the emoticon for rolling one's eyes in the air?) searched for a bug, didn't find one, submitted one, then found out it already existed in bugzilla. They are working on it :)
Re: Why I'm learning to hate Mozilla's email notification?
That article "Why I love Spam" is certainly interesting. I can't help but wonder if this guy is serious or just trying to play up the old kitsch line. I could just as easily write an essay called "Why I Love Having No Toilet Paper at a Public Restroom" or some such rediculous topic.
I guess somebody somewhere would try to give me a positive attitude towards SPAM, but this is a lame effort.
