Wiki Syllabus for Course on Weblogs

Nick Olejniczak of blogosphere.us is teaching a class on weblogs in the spring at the University of Wisconsin. I'm guessing it's in his home department, Family and Consumer Communications. His syllabus is a wiki on which he would like feedback and suggestions for reading assignments. Olejniczak writes, "In the spirit of the medium that inspired the class, let's see if we can build a syllabus that will itself demonstrate the collaborative power of the blogosphere." Open design for open design. Very cool--I would love to teach a similar course.

This is a good idea. Looks like he's using a commercial wiki, though. Too bad. I'd have loved to host this project!

Swiki is not commercial...

Hi,

it is swiki that is used and is not commercial or at least it wasn't commercial until recently, I hope it didn't change and I am not aware :)

Thanks to both of you for the encouragement. :)

Vivian's right though, swiki isn't commercial (or at the very least it's free and doesn't make me display ads anywhere). It does require registration for anyone interested in making a change to the page (which unfortunately I didn't realize until after I had it set up). I'd hoped to have the system be completely open so that anyone could make changes or suggestions. blacklily, I'd be happy to discuss alternatives -- drop me an email if you're interested.

The wiki IS Commercial

I'm not sure if you're aware of this Nick, but you are displaying ads on this site. You don't see them on the default page, but click EDIT and you see them at the bottom. I'm seeing "ADS by GOOGLE" on the bottom of the page that asks you to log in.

If you want to move the project to my site, there will be no ads! Or, you could try http://writingwiki.org that's hosted by Joe Moxley. Either one would be a fine choice.

If you want to use my wiki, you'll need to register on the forums first. Just visit http://mattbarton.net , register at the forums, then log in to the wiki and try it out.

Thanks

I'll check out your site and see about moving over. Thanks for pointing out your resource.
