The Universal College Application, UCA, has been in operation since 2007 and currently serves 46 universities and colleges. Despite the fact that this number includes the most eminent and prestigious universities, the applicant should carefully consider their choice of this particular application system for admission.
The fact is that the UCA is not the only automatic filing system in the United States. American universities can use several such systems at the same time, applicants cannot. The choice of universities in the Universal College Application is very limited, and having decided to expand it, the student will send applications manually, since he can register in only one system.
Which universities use only the UCA system
The following universities can only be applied through UCA: Dean College, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Fisher College, Johnson & Wales University, Landmark College, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Southern Vermont College, Tulane University, Wesley College, University of Wyoming.
If you are determined to enroll in one or more universities from this list, feel free to register in the system – it has a lot of technical advantages over the more common CA. In addition, the UCA begins accepting applications a month earlier – from July 1, which gives more time to prepare documents.
Technical features of the UCA system
- Convenient interface.
- High speed of work.
- Autosave function – you are insured against losing the entered information if a failure occurs.
- Fast and efficient technical support – in case of problems, you will quickly receive the necessary technical advice.
- Ability to edit the essay after clicking the “Send documents” button and until the documents were opened by a representative of the admissions committee. This is very handy if you find an error after submitting it.
What information should the student add about himself
The UCA system does not require the provision of integral information about the student – it is enough for the school to be accredited and follow the general recommendations of the National Association of Colleges regarding the rules for admission to universities.
UCA does not require the submission of essays and recommendations – this greatly simplifies the application process in cases where the university does not request these documents. At the same time, most, if not all colleges today still require these documents – they will still need to be prepared.
The UCA essay writing format is free, that is, the applicant himself chooses how and what to write about. Therein lies a pitfall – writing according to a ready-made, correctly structured template that corresponds to generally accepted practice may still turn out to be easier than “reinventing the wheel”.
